About Janet McPhatter

Janet Marie McPhatter is a graduate from Westwood College with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications which she received in 2011. In 2007, she earned an Associate’s degree in Digital Design from Stratford University. She is enrolled at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design earning her Master’s degree in Education, Leadership and Emerging Technologies.

In 1994, she graduated from Maryland Drafting Institute for Electro-mechanical Drafting. In 1991, she graduated from Montgomery College and received certification by the college,
The Department of Labor, The Department of the Army and Army Research Lab for Machinist Technology. She is currently employed as a Engineering Technician for the National Institute
of Standards and Technology where her chief duties are Computer Aided Design (CAD) and graphics.

Janet is a trained graphic designer, technical illustrator and draftsperson with solid experience underpinned by her passion for expressing her creativity. She has been employed on many
contracts for the Federal Government and private sector.

At the Rocky Mountain of Art and Design, she has learned the many facets of Education to include Instructional Design, Leadership, Motivation Strategies, Pedagogy, and  Action Research to name a few. She has discovered a fascinating world in Education Technology for which she would like to study further. There are so many Web tools available and she would enjoy learning as much as she can. She is versed in HTML, CSS and some Javascript and has done websites for a few companies. She also enjoys motions graphics using After Effects so the line of work for an Instructional Designer will be a good fit for her.

Janet’s plans after graduation is to pursue a adult teaching position in the evenings teaching Computer Aided Design or Graphic Design. She also plans to pursue a position in the Federal Government as an Instructional Systems Specialist.
